Older people mental health support

We work jointly with Cwm Taf Local Health Board to support older people who experience mental ill health and people of all ages with dementia.

Our Locality Teams provide specialised services for:

  • Older people (over 65 years) experiencing mental ill health, for example anxiety or depression
  • Adults of any age with a dementia
  • The carers, family and friends who offer them support

The teams work to ensure that people using social care services make the most of their skills and abilities at each stage of their illness, promoting their independence while minimising risk. Their aim is to preserve people’s dignity and increase their confidence, which will, in turn, maintain their quality of life.

We give priority to people who have the greatest needs. People who experience unstable episodes, those whose memory loss is such that they are at risk and older people with serious mental health problems will receive our priority response.

For more information please see our older people's mental health service.
