How to do dispose of animal waste for dogs, cats, horses and other pets.
Dogs
Dog poo needs to be placed into a bag, tied and placed in your black bags.
Do not compost it.
Cats
Cat poo and litter needs to be placed into a bag, tied and placed in your black bags.
Do not compost it.
Cat litter is heavy and can make your black bags difficult to carry. Apply for an additional black bag allowance so that you can half-fill your black bags and make them safer to carry to your collection point.
You could also also take up to 3 bags of cat litter per visit to most of our Community Recycling Centres.
Rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and other small animals
Used sawdust bedding from small hutch animals can be recycled in your green waste sack. Regsiter for a green waste collection.
Horses, ponies and livestock
You should compost manure in a properly constructed manure store or donate it to a local allotment group.
Other pets and farm animal waste
You can compost farm animal waste or place it in your black bag.
You should dispose of exotic animal waste such as, shredded skin, any bedding and any droppings in your compost bin or black bag.
Pet Food
Dry pet food can be placed into your food waste caddy or home compost bin. Wet pet food needs to be placed in your food waste bin.
Do not place packaging into the bin.
