Adult Community Learning Partnership

The partnership delivers a wide range of courses for adult learning in the community.  All partners work closely together to provide a clear pathway through each level of learning, supporting learners of all abilities from complete beginners to Level 3 learners and beyond.

Each partner can provide different categories of learning from Arts and Crafts to Vocational Accredited courses.

RCT ACL offer courses to learners across the County Borough from engagement to level 3. Courses are delivered in community venues and libraries.

There are a wide variety of courses to develop pathways for learners to re-engage on their learning journey. We work closely with RCT Work and Skills to refer learners into employment related training via their Employment Routes Programme.

Adult Learning Wales offers accredited ESOL classes in a friendly, supportive environment, both face-to-face and online at all levels. The courses focus on developing language skills for accessing local services, participating in daily life in Britain, and preparing for employment or further education. An assessment determines your level, and you are allocated a suitable class.

Reaching Wider for Adults at the University of South Wales helps people over 18 in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr build confidence and inspire them to progress to further learning. They offer free taster courses in subjects like Art, Criminology, and Psychology, along with campus visits, study skills support, and guidance. New courses start each term in accessible community venues. Many learners have gone on to make career moves and further study with many progressing to university. Working Wales, delivered by Careers Wales and funded by the Welsh Government, offers free and impartial careers advice to anyone aged 16 and above in Wales. They help people get into work or advance their careers with tailored advice and guidance. Support is available face-to-face, by phone, or digitally. 

Support provided includes career change coaching, redundancy and unemployment support, access to upskilling and training, funding advice for training, access to Welsh Government programs, job and apprenticeship opportunities, job interview preparation, and CV and application support.

At Coleg y Cymoedd, we are dedicated to equipping our learners with a diverse skill set and knowledge for future success. Our unique approach focuses on enhancing fundamental skills, vocational skills, and core competencies during their educational journey.

We emphasise the significance of Welsh language proficiency as a key employability skill, seamlessly integrating it into the curriculum.

Learners can choose from a wide range of full and part-time courses across 15+ curriculum areas, Accommodating diverse abilities from Entry to Degree level.

RCT Work ad Skills

The Rhondda Cynon Taf ‘Work and Skills Team’ provides a range of tailored advice and support to all residents over 16, who are looking to get into employment, training or volunteering. You can also receive support to up-skill when you are in work. 

Support offered can be a combination of 121 Mentoring, accredited and non-accredited training, Life Skills which include increasing digital and basic skills, to include Maths, English and Wellbeing; and support to access volunteering and work placement opportunities.

Located in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park next to the Bandstand, we offer heritage, education, and wellbeing courses for all ages. We aim to raise awareness of the park's heritage. The center features a classroom for various skill-developing activities and a garden with a greenhouse, supported by dedicated volunteers for assistance with your gardening skills.
We are a tenant-owned community mutual housing association, providing safe, secure, and affordable homes to 25,000 people in Rhondda Cynon Taff and Cardiff Bay. Beyond housing, we focus on community development, regeneration, and individual wellbeing. With over 400 staff, we prioritize tenant needs, build strong relationships, and deliver excellent service.

Taster courses delivered to learners across RCT through the medium of Welsh.
We are responsible for our award-winning Apprenticeship and Graduate programmes. We are also committed to creating impactful and long-term career and work opportunities for young people living in RCT. This includes school pupils, care experienced young people, individuals with additional needs and those not in employment, education or training. Our aim is to enhance employability skills through a wide range of bespoke initiatives, experiences, activities and resources.
Cwm Taf Morgannwg UniversityHealth Board

We are one of the largest employers second to RCT council in the area, with 15000 staff working across all our sites, including our three main hospitals, The Royal Glamorgan, The Princess of Wales, and Prince Charles. 
We offer work experience at all hospital sites including  medical education observation days and internships for young people with learning difficulties and/or autism. We host the Network 75 Graduate scheme with the University of South Wales and have a Qualifications and Apprenticeship Academy for staff upskilling, including unique traditional apprenticeships with permanent contracts. We engage with local schools, participate in mock interviews, and provide job advice. Additionally, we attend local careers events and employability meetings.
