Amber Weather Warning For RCT

Rain
An AMBER Met Office weather warning of heavy rain affecting Rhondda Cynon Taf comes into effect from 8pm tonight (Friday, February 12) to 6pm Saturday, February 20.

Residents and businesses are urged to remain alert and take extra care at this time.

Motorists undertaking essential journeys are advised to take extra care and drive according to the severe weather conditions. Plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys. Also allow extra space between vehicles in order to stop in emergencies.

Delays are possible at times, along with disruption to public transport. Surface spray, flooding, power failure and road closures are also possible in some areas of the County Borough.

Please remain vigilant at all times and continue to adhere to the Welsh Government COVID-19 restrictions (Alert Level 4).

The Council has additional resources working throughout the weekend and Highways teams have been proactively monitoring drains and culverts ahead of the weather warning coming into effect, with crews available to deal with any issues that may arise over the weekend. Residents in possession of flood prevention measures (such as flood gates) may also wish to consider putting these in place during the Amber Weather Warning period.

If you have any issues, please call the Council’s Emergency Out Of Hours number 01443 425011.

Also, please follow the Met Office and the Council’s social media accounts for all the latest updates.
