The Council is Delighted to announce that live shows are set to make a welcome return to both the Coliseum Theatre and Park & Dare Theatre for the first time since the global pandemic.

Kickstarting the 2022 season at the Coliseum is Wales’s favourite funny man Owen Money with his rescheduled show Owen Money’s Juke Box Heroes 3 Tour on Saturday, March 5 (7:30pm). All tickets purchased for the original date are valid for the new date.

Following his hugely successful tours in 2016 and 2018, Owen is back with an evening of music and laughter featuring his band, The Travelling Wrinklies, plus some special guests.

Re-live the unforgettable sounds of The Beach Boys, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Nina Simone, Neil Diamond and Tina Turner in this nostalgic trip down memory lane.

Councillor Rhys Lewis, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Communities, said: “It is wonderful news that we are welcoming live performances back to both the Park & Dare and Coliseum theatres. They have been missed greatly.

“I would like to thank the Council’s Arts Service team for all they have done during the pandemic, many having been working in other parts of the Council for the past two years helping us respond to the emergency situation.

“But the time has now come to open up our doors again and welcome people back into our theatres. We have a packed programme planned of both live shows and movies on the big screens. We can once again fill our theatres with music, laughter, drama and action and they can rightfully regain their status as entertainment centres within our communities.”

The Ultimate Rock Show, featuring over two hours of classic rock riffs from legends such as Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Queen and Deep Purple, comes to the Coliseum Theatre on Saturday, April 2 (7:30pm). Another rescheduled show, all tickets purchased for the original date will again be valid for this show.

All-round entertainer Lee Gilbert is Live at the Park & Dare Theatre on Sunday, March 13 (7pm). Rhondda’s very-own Lee will be marking 30 years in showbusiness accompanied by his seven-piece band and supported by Bello Duo.

A Welsh language production of the Willy Russell production Shirley Valentine is being staged at the Park & Dare Theatre for one night only on Wednesday, March 23 (7:00pm). The hit comedy is based around one women’s fun-filled holiday to Greece, a holiday that will change her life forever.

All the live productions are complemented at both theatres by the packed programme of movies to suit all tastes.
