The BIG Street Blitz

The BIG street blitzes are coming to street near you thanks to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s dedicated Streetcare team.

The street blitzes taking place further demonstrate the Council’s ongoing commitment to keep our streets and open spaces clean and green for everyone to enjoy.

The Streetcare team will shortly be heading to Ferndale where they will be out in force cleaning up, in a bid to remove litter, fly tipping, dog fouling, clean graffiti, remove chewing gum, weeding and maintain green areas. The sweepers will also be brought in to remove dead leaves and debris.

Street blitzes are deeper cleans that aim to tackle issues that can’t be dealt with as part of the general cleaning sessions that take place every day across the County Borough, in all areas of RCT.

The street blitzes were launched more than a decade ago, as part of wider campaign to make Rhondda Cynon Taf a cleaner and tidier place to live, work and visit and see the teams visit every area across the County Borough throughout the year.

Councillor Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Heritage Services, said:

“A lot of work goes into ensuring Rhondda Cynon Taf remains a clean, green place in which to live, work and visit.

“The fantastic work of the Streetcare team to make our County Borough a cleaner place to live is certainly visible for all to see.

“We are proud of our communities and open spaces and work proactively with residents to ensure they also have pride in and take ownership of, where they live.

“However we must not take our eye of the ball and we must continue to strive to improve our County Borough. Litter and waste is always going to be an issue and the teams work tirelessly to keep our County Borough clean and green, but it’s important that residents do their bit to help in the fight against waste by making sure they dispose of their waste responsibly.”

“We work with them to educate and raise awareness so they can play a part in protecting Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Street blitzes are set to continue across the County Borough over the next few months.
