Welsh Government Minister for Education and the Welsh Language Jeremy Miles AS/MS visited Clych Meithrin Dyrys next to YGG Ynyswen in Treorchy today, a well-established childcare provider, which has been relocated to a purpose built facility thanks to Welsh Government funding.

This is one of nine childcare projects across Rhondda Cynon Taf that have benefited from successful bids from the Council for capital funding.

Cylch Meithrin Nant Dyrys has been based in the grounds of YGG Ynyswen for many years, with their previous building in need of repair. Funding has allowed the project to relocate to a new building, offering improved facilities and outdoor space, helping to further its aim of increasing the number of children accessing Welsh Medium education in the Upper Rhondda area.

Councillor Bob Harris, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Communities, said:

It was fantastic to see for the first time today the new purpose built facility adjacent to the school site, with its own access, outdoor play areas and facilities that staff and children alike clearly love.

I’d like to thank the Council staff who worked so hard to secure funding for these projects, and I’d like to thank Clych Meithrin Nant Dyrys staff for using this funding to such fantastic effect. The “Excellent” judgements received  in all four sections of their recent CIW inspection (well-being, care and development, environment and leadership and management) is very well deserved.
