Work is underway to re-line the culvert network that passes underneath several streets in Tynewydd – with minimal overall disruption expected during the scheme.
The culvert is located beneath several local streets – including Bryn Wyndham Terrace, Blaen y Cwm Terrace, Halifax Terrace, St Albans Road (pictured) and Blaen y Cwm Road.
The scheme will mitigate structural defects to the culverted section of the watercourse network, helping to provide resilience and improve the structural performance of the culvert.
The repairs will directly alleviate the risk of flooding to around 19 local properties.
Work got underway in the week commencing Monday, August 19, and is funded with an 85% contribution from Welsh Government’s Flood Risk Management Small Scale Works programme.
No road closure is required, and where traffic management is needed it will be for short durations of time to access manholes within the highway.
The Council has appointed Arch Drainage as the contractor to deliver the scheme, which will last around six weeks in total.
Thanks to the community in Tynewydd for your cooperation during these important works.
