The Council will undertake an important local repair scheme to an 80-metre section of wall along Brewery Road in Pontygwaith – with work getting underway this week.
The scheme will start from Tuesday, August 27, requiring a single lane closure of the northbound lane on Brewery Road to enable access to higher sections of the wall.
Two-way traffic lights will therefore be used by the Council’s appointed contractor, Kordel Civils and Building Ltd.
Repairs to the masonry retaining and parapet wall will include removing intrusive vegetation, along with repointing specific areas of the structure.
Some areas of the wall will be rebuilt, while removal and reinstatement of the existing copings will also be undertaken where required.
The pedestrian guardrail that is located above the wall will also be replaced.
The scheme is funded via the Council’s 2024/25 Highways Capital Programme, and is scheduled for completion by the end of October 2024.
The contractor will use a section of the lane closure to establish its site compound.
Thanks to residents and road users in advance for your cooperation as repairs to this large structure are undertaken.
