Work progressing on repair scheme to Aberdare Park wall

Aberdare Park wall 1

The Council has provided an update on the scheme to rebuild and repair damaged sections of the boundary wall of Aberdare Park.

A section of the wall near the B4275 in Trecynon, opposite the junction with Broniestyn Terrace, sustained damage during Storm Bert.

A small section of the structure has collapsed, while an inspection has also found that four additional nearby sections are required to be taken down and rebuilt.

The Council has appointed Hammonds Ltd as the contractor to carry out the repairs, and work has got underway this week.

The repair scheme is expected to last up to three weeks in total, and is aiming for completion before Christmas.

The footway adjacent to the damaged section of wall has been brought out of use to ensure safety – pedestrians should use the footway on the opposite site of the road.

Two-way traffic flow is able to be maintained on the B4275, with the northbound lane narrowed near the works location.
