Phase two of drainage repairs to get underway in Mountain Ash

Mountain Ash TC grid

The second phase of repair works to drainage infrastructure in Mountain Ash will start next week – focusing on Stream Street, High Street and Pryce Street.

The work will start from Monday, January 20, and will include repairing sections of piping where required, along with rebuilding manholes.

Temporary traffic management will be needed at some of the work locations, including single lane closures with temporary traffic lights along High Street.

As the works move from one location to the next, planned road closures will be required to make safe progress.

This will include a closure at the southern end of Quarry Road (for two weeks in February) and at Pryce Street (for four weeks across February and March). Notices and plans of the respective road closures will be displayed at the work areas in due course.

Where footways will need to be brought out of use, suitable diversion routes will be put in place to maintain pedestrian safety.

The overall works will be completed by the end of March 2025, and will be carried out by the RCT Streetcare team alongside subcontractor Arch Drainage Services.

This second phase of work in Mountain Ash follows an initial phase, which was recently completed across Victor Street, Cliff Street, Eva Street, Stream Street and High Street.

The overall scheme is funded by the Welsh Government’s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management programme, with both phases of work representing a combined investment of more than half-a-million pounds.
