Preparation, Planning and Response for Emergencies

The Emergency Planning department at Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC plans, tests, and trains staff to ensure the correct arrangements and procedures are in place to deal with any major incidents or emergencies that occur in Rhondda Cynon Taf. We work in partnership with the emergency services, the NHS, transport and utility companies to develop local emergency plans, based on the South Wales Local Resilience Forum Community Risk Register, to ensure an effective response to emergency incidents and keep communities safe.

In a multi‑agency emergency response, Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) Council works closely with partners such as the police, fire and rescue service, ambulance service, health bodies, the Coal Authority, and the Welsh Government to coordinate efforts and protect the public. RCT will typically open its Emergency Control Room to manage the incident and invite multi‑agency partners to support the response.
