Free Research Sessions

Interested in the history of South Wales? Join our research group! We’re concentrating on war memorial research in our upcoming session on 29th July. 10am – 12pm. All sessions are free – come along and join the group here at Rhondda Heritage Park Museum. Please bring a laptop or tablet if possible to help with the research.

Halloween Spooktacular Returns to Rhondda Heritage Park Museum—October 29th & 30th! 
This October, Rhondda Heritage Park Museum once again transforms into a frightfully fun haunt for families with the return of its fang-tastic Halloween Spooktacular event! Set in the heart of Trehafod, the popular tourist attraction is gearing up for two days of eerie excitement and ghoulish giggles. 

 What's New in 2025? The thrills are even bigger this year, with brand-new twilight sessions bringing fire breathers and performers as the abandoned circus arrives! 
Each Child’s Ticket Includes 7 Spooky Experiences: 
Pumpkin Patch Picking: Wander through our perfect patch to choose your very own pumpkin to take home and carve. 
Halloween Hunt: Search for hidden spooks around the museum, collect stamps, and earn a treat… or a trick! 
Halloween Show: Enjoy an all-new performance packed with spooky fun. 
Crafty Creations: Make eerie art in hands-on Halloween workshops. 
Spooky Photo Spots: Snap ghostly selfies at our creepy photo stations. 
The Abandoned Mine: Venture underground to meet singing skeletons and more! Patch the Pumpkin will be waiting to say hello! 
Fang-tastic Fun Fair: Hop aboard two classic kids' rides—ideal for your little monsters. 
Twilight Sessions: Our brand-new twilight sessions include all of the above PLUS entertainment from the abandoned circus… see fire breathers and more!

Santa’s Toy Mine Returns to Rhondda Heritage Park Museum  
A Magical Christmas Adventure for Families and School trips! 

Is that sleigh bells we hear? Santa’s Toy Mine is back — and it’s more magical than ever! From 22nd November to 24th December, Rhondda Heritage Park Museum transforms into a festive wonderland where families and school groups can embark on a heartwarming adventure to find Santa deep within the mine.  There’s a lot going on this year, including: 

  • Brand new Story Time with Santa – English, Welsh and ALN sessions available 
  • School tours 
  • ALN sessions for Santa’s Toy Mine

Santa’s Toy Mine 
Join our toy miners on a journey bursting with festive wonder and excitement. Follow your toy miner guide deep into Santa’s Toy Mine, where you’ll meet more merry miners and uncover magical surprises around every corner. But when you reach Santa’s Grotto, the big question remains… is he in? 

What’s included: 

  • A magical illuminated adventure through Santa’s Toy Mine  
  • A visit to Santa’s Grotto 
  • Each child will receive a special magic bell from Santa himself, before heading to the Toy Shop to exchange if for a gift straight from the elves’ workshop. 
  • Capture the Magic - Strike your best festive pose for a festive family photo with Santa! Photos can be pre-purchased or bought on the day, with a variety of print options available. 

 Please Note: Tours are made up of multiple parties, so your visit to Santa’s Grotto will be shared with other guests on the hunt for Santa! 

Story Time with Santa Join one of our Toy Miners and Santa himself for a cosy storytelling session filled with Christmas cheer. Sessions are available in both Welsh and English. Quieter ALN sessions with reduced numbers and a calmer atmosphere are also available. 

What’s Included: 

  • A cozy visit to Santa’s Grotto 
    A delightful Christmas story narrated by a Toy Miner. 
    A magic bell gifted to each child to be exchanged at the toy shop.
    A trip to the Toy Shop, where children can choose their very own present straight from the elves’ workshop.

 
There’s also an opportunity for festive photos with Santa which can be purchased in advance or on the day. Please note: The story time sessions do not include the full toy mine tour.

Schools can book week-day tours between 10am and 2pm - a fantastic festive educational outing!
