Be amazed at our underground tour, take a virtual ride on Dram and more!
Black Gold tours are now closed until January 2024. The visitor centre, exhibitions, café and Craft of Hearts remain open.
The Black Gold Experience Underground Tour lasts up to 90 minutes and is led by our guides who all worked the coal mines of the Rhondda Valleys when they were boys.
They have tales to tell of life underground and the history of the Black Gold that was shipped from the Rhondda around the globe. Meet our miners.
The tour ends with a simulated ride on DRAM! Our virtual coal dram which has a few surprises!
People love the interactive tour and their favourite part is definitely the former miners who share their often moving, often funny and always authentic stories, memories and experiences with their guests.
Explore our FREE interactive exhibition, telling the story of life in the Rhondda. Touch screen displays and interactive elements bring the tale to life - you can even sit in the parlour of a home, and there are costumes for the children to try on.
