We are open Tuesday to Saturday. There is one tour an hour from 10am – 3pm on these days. Book the tour online.
A Welsh Coal Mining Experience at Rhondda Heritage Park is based on the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery site in the heart of the Rhondda Valleys and is a fascinating place to visit for all ages. The Black Gold Underground Experience Tour is led by our guides who all worked the coal mines of the Rhondda Valleys and have tales to tell of life underground and the history of the Black Gold that was shipped from the Rhondda around the globe. As part of the tour, you can also take a ride on Dram! Our virtual ride which has a few surprises in store! In addition to the tour, we have a café that serves meals and snacks, free interactive exhibitions which you can take in at your own pace and an award-winning craft store.
