The Council is playing its part to tackle Climate Change and reinforced its commitment and targets in its new Corporate Plan for 2024-30 - '
Working with our Communities'.
‘Working with our Communities’ subsumes the work set out in our Tackling Climate Change strategy - ‘Think Climate RCT’. Among other things the new plan shows how we will be reducing the carbon emissions within the Council and how we will support and influence residents, communities and businesses in the County Borough to reduce theirs. By delivering key projects for example the Local Area Energy Plan, low carbon transport, generating green energy and leading by example, we aim to make it easier for our residents, schools, communities, visitors and businesses to make zero or low carbon choices.
By 2030
- RCT will be a carbon neutral Council
- The County Borough will be as close to carbon neutral as possible
- We will have contributed to meeting the Welsh Government’s ambition of a Net Zero public sector

Welsh Government
Welsh Government have clearly set out that the aim is for Wales to reach net zero by 2050. This means the greenhouse gases removed from the atmosphere are in balance with the greenhouse gases emitted. We all need to work together to make this happen – Welsh Government, RCT Council, communities, businesses, and everyone in Wales.
